Appendix A:

Age when your Tier 1 (General) application is expected to be submitted to the UK Border Agency. Different rules apply for extension applications, please consult with Smith Stone Walters.

Qualifications gained outside of the UK may need to be verified by UK NARIC. Some qualifications may be downgraded on points if gained outside of the UK. Certificates supplied in support of all applications need to be in original format. Points for a Bachelor’s degree are only available in consideration of extension applications, please consult with Smith Stone Walters for further guidance.

Special MBA transitional arrangements are open to candidates if you enrolled on a qualifying MBA course before 30 June 2008 and graduated with a qualifying MBA within the 12 months prior to submitting your Tier 1 (General) application. Please contact Smith Stone Walters for further guidance.

You can claim points for declared earnings received in the past 12 months. To support any such claim, you shall be required to provide supporting evidence including original payslips and bank statements. Points for income below £20,000 are only available in consideration of extension applications, please consult with Smith Stone Walters for further guidance.

To confirm the maximum level of points available to you:

• Convert your earnings to pound sterling (£) using the closing spot exchange rate for the last day of the period for which you are claiming earnings in that currency.

• Using the Previous Earnings Uplift Conversion Rates Table (Table 2A) multiply your earnings by the value indicated (For example: salary received in Israel should be multiplied by the value of 2.3).

You can claim 5 points if you have previous experience of living in the UK if either:

You have successfully scored points under the previous earnings category and your earnings were in the UK

or

You have studied and graduated at bachelors degree level or higher in full-time or higher education in the UK, or at a UK-based overseas educational institution, for at least one full academic year.

Appendix B:

In order to qualify for HSMP an applicant must have a good knowledge of the English language and must provide evidence to support this. If you do not supply this your application may be refused.

Appendix C:

An applicant will need to provide evidence showing that they have the necessary funds available to provide for themselves and their dependents in the UK before they can obtain a Tier 1 (HSMP) visa.
